Legal notices & policies

Legal notices and customer responsibility.

Read it once and you’re good. This covers the stuff worth knowing before you order — that we’re independent, the warranty risk, what the fix permanently does, where your responsibility starts, and how recording laws differ across the states we serve.

Independence

Independent service. Not affiliated with anyone.

ByeLED is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, authorized by, or sponsored by Meta, Ray-Ban, EssilorLuxottica, Oakley, Facebook, Instagram, or any related company. Brand names are used solely to identify compatible customer-owned products. ByeLED is not a manufacturer repair center, an authorized service provider, or a reseller. Customers are not buying a Ray-Ban Meta product, an extended warranty, or a manufacturer-authorized repair — they are buying an independent modification service.

Lawful use only

Customer responsibility for lawful use.

Customers are solely responsible for complying with all federal, state, local, workplace, venue, privacy, recording, wiretapping, consent, harassment, stalking, and surveillance laws that apply to them and to how they use their glasses after any modification. ByeLED does not authorize or encourage unlawful, harassing, or non-consensual recording. ByeLED may refuse or cancel any order at our discretion, including for stated use cases that appear unlawful, non-consensual, or unsafe.

Recording, wiretapping, and consent laws vary meaningfully by state and by venue. The four states ByeLED serves most often illustrate this clearly:

  • Delaware: one-party consent state for audio recording.
  • New Jersey: one-party consent state for audio recording.
  • Pennsylvania: two-party (all-party) consent state for audio recording.
  • Maryland: two-party (all-party) consent state for audio recording.

"Consent" here generally refers to the audio side of recording, not just the visual side. Many venues, workplaces, and private properties impose stricter rules than the state default. ByeLED does not provide legal advice; if you are uncertain whether your intended use is lawful, consult an attorney before placing an order.

Modification and warranty

The modification is permanent. The warranty is at risk.

ByeLED's service is a physical modification to the recording indicator light. Customers should assume the modification is permanent and may not be restorable. The work may void the manufacturer warranty, store return rights, extended warranty plans, accidental-damage protection plans, insurance coverage, manufacturer support eligibility, software/firmware behavior, water and dust resistance ratings, and future feature compatibility. Customers are responsible for understanding and accepting these risks before placing an order. A plain-English waiver covering this is reviewed and signed in person at intake, before any work begins.

Shipping

Carrier risk is the customer's responsibility.

Mail-in customers are responsible for adequate packaging, tracking, and replacement-value insurance unless otherwise stated in writing on the order confirmation. Carrier loss, theft, damage, or delay in transit is not ByeLED's responsibility. ByeLED's intake-approval email includes packaging and carrier recommendations; following those recommendations meaningfully reduces the chance of any of these issues.

Refusal of service

ByeLED may refuse or cancel any order.

ByeLED reserves the right to refuse or cancel service for any lawful reason, including but not limited to: suspicious or unlawful-sounding stated use cases; mismatched ownership information; missing or unclear photos of the glasses; unsafe device condition; identified safety, harassment, or surveillance concerns; or any other reason at our discretion. Refused orders receive a full refund of any pre-payment.

Limitation of liability

Liability cap.

To the maximum extent allowed by law, ByeLED's total liability arising from any order is limited to the amount paid for the service. This limit excludes the replacement value of the device, consequential damages, lost data, lost profits, lost time, third-party claims, and any other indirect damages. Customers who require coverage beyond this should arrange their own insurance prior to shipping or handing over the device.

Contact

Questions or notices.

Legal notices, takedown requests, or specific complaints should be sent to [email protected] with sufficient detail for ByeLED to investigate. Trademark owners are welcome to contact us about brand-reference questions; the brand references on this site identify compatible customer-owned products only and do not imply affiliation, endorsement, or authorization.
